Amy Winehouse to appear in Norwegian court IceNews

The English frontman Amy Winehouse is on a visit to Norway today, but it's not a pleasure trip. The often-troubled twenty-five year old frontman has a court date in Bergen today concerning her appeal against charges of drug possession stemming back to 2007. In October 2007, Winehouse and her man were captured in Bergen for possessing seven grams ( 0.25 oz. ) of marijuana. But Winehouse later filed an appeal against the fine, saying the Norwegian police made many mistakes in the arrest. Since the fines were so little, Winehouse is certainly appealing the case in an attempt to have the charges wiped out from her record. According to her Norwegian attorney, Ole Kvelstad, by paying the fine she basically made a plea of guilty to the charges of drug possession.

This charge could make it virtually impossible to get a visa to go into the US. Winehouse learned firsthand the impacts of the drug charge when she was denied a US visa to perform at the Grammy awards rite in 2008. Ironically, Winehouse ended up winning 5 Grammys for her album Rehabilitation but due to her issues with substances and alcohol wasn't authorized into the US to accept her awards. She's going to have to appeal the case in real life, according to police prosecutor Rudolf Christoffersen. Usually if you do not appear at your own appeal hearing, then the court will dismiss the appeal..
